The Importance of Food Safety

Food borne illness is caused by micro-organisms commonly called bacteria. There are many different types of bacteria, some of them are beneficial such as those used for making cheese and yogurt. However, there are some types that can cause illness. These bacteria are often transmitted to people via food, beverages, water, or other people. Food borne illness can occur from one to about five days after eating contaminated food.

Food Safety

  • Store raw food below cooked food in the refrigerator (to prevent the raw food from dripping onto the cooked food)
  • Store and serve food in clean containers on plates
  • Serve hot foods piping hot and cold foods cold
  • Store all perishable foods in the refrigerator or freezer

It is also important that Cervena arrive to you in good condition, and that it be stored properly, both for food safety and maximum utility.

Note: Like other meat, venison is a potential source of toxoplasmosis, which can be harmful to unborn babies and those with weakened immune systems. Like other meat, Cervena should therefore not be eaten raw or under-cooked during pregnancy or by people with weakened immune systems.
